Emerald in summer and white in winter, Lac Blanc lies just below the Péclet glacier in Val Thorens.
There are 2 main routes. The first follows the signposted trail from Lac de Tête Ronde through rocky terrain and some scree. The second takes a steeper approach from the top of the resort, behind the last chalets, over the foothills and grassy slopes beside the slalom piste.
The paths join to form a loop, which you can walk in either direction: choose a demanding ascent with substantial elevation gain, or a gentler route that still involves some climbing.
For those keen to continue, the track climbs to the Péclet Funitel station. From there, descend along the winter toboggan route to Lac de Tête Ronde, above Les Chalets du Thorens.
Bring sunscreen, a hat and eye protection. Wear suitable mountain-walking clothing, including comfortable hiking boots, and carry a jacket for changing weather plus enough water and food for the day. Before setting off, check the forecast and ask the local tourist office for current route and trail conditions.
Conditions and information can change, so always consult reliable local sources for the latest advice before setting off. Enjoy your hike to Lac Blanc!
